Save Big, Shop Small

shopsmallpost

shopsmallpost

It is that time of year again, and if you are like me I know Christmas shopping can be super hectic for you. Especially on Black Friday. God knows I’ve had my fair share of 3am days waiting in line for a somewhat good deal on whatever the new fangled doo-hickey of the season was {I think it was a Wii}. Well, I have some good news if you’re tired of fighting with the masses at your local big box retailer and freezing your ass off to get that great deal, you can give us small businesses a try this Saturday.

American Express has done an amazing job developing and promoting “SHOP SMALL” Saturday. This year they are going as far as spotting you $10 for every $10 you spend {up to $30} at any registered small business. You can get more information on how to participate and register your American Express card here.

I’m happy to say Typhanie Peterson Textiles is part of the shop small community. And to show our appreciation for your support on November 29th you can also receive 20% off of our handmade eco friendly designer pillows by entering code “SHOPSMALL” at checkout. Not only will you be helping out my super small business. You can also boast to your friends about the awesome eco-friendly, lumbar supporting, handmade in the USA pillows that you picked up for the holiday.

So before you trudge back to the crowded mall on Saturday missing out on precious time with your family. Spend a few minutes online checking out the local shops participating in this program and of course don’t forget to check out our fabulous pillows.

P.S. Want to cuddle with our pillows in person? Stop by Lu Lu Too Boutique in Costa Mesa, CA and get your hug on.

Well, Hello There

blog1

blog1

I haven’t blogged most of these summer months because life has been so chaotic. I’ve been using the time away to be with my family and Mr. Bigglesworth. I’m happy to say he’s still hanging in there. Even though he’s way past the time table the Vet had given us. Hubby and I were so excited he made it to September that we spent the 1st of the month spoiling him. He was super fat on tuna that day.

I constantly look to learn from all situations in life. These past few months have taught me a great deal. Besides my little fur baby’s illness I’ve had to deal with health issues of my own. What I thought was a simple allergic reaction to some plant in my neighborhood has turned out to be a Candida Overgrowth. Needless to say for the past several weeks I’ve been on the diet from hell. No yeast, no sugar, no wheat, no alcohol and nothing that taste good. The first two weeks had me in tears and curled up in a ball on the floor. But once I got through the detox and the no meat portion of the diet things got a tiny bit more bearable. Finding recipes on Pinterest has helped a lot. Even though I feel like I spend half my day in the kitchen. On this diet if you don’t make it, you’re not eating. I have four and a half months left on this regimen so please pray for me. I will share some of the more delicious recipes with you so you may suffer be as happy and as healthy as me.

In the past few months I’ve also come to realize that I need to simplify my life and business. I really missed blogging and sharing all the wonderful goodies I’ve found. But I didn’t have the energy or the organization in place to keep blogging and working. So for the next several weeks I’ll be plotting and planning a more efficient way to do things. I even got myself a Day Designer. It’s so lovely and I feel like we are BFFs’ already even though it’s a January 2015 edition. I will definitely be writing a post on this fab agenda.

blog1Also, we’re moving!!

Hubby and I are moving to a new apartment at the end of the month and the shop will be moving to our new Etsy store. More to come on the new apartment later and hopefully a Garage Sale announcement for those of you who live in the Orange County area. The new Etsy store should be stocked this weekend with some limited edition/quantity of our Basic Pillow Collection. The current store will be coming down this Friday so if you need some fabulous Linen pillow and/or fabrics this is your last chance. Also, our Hinge Modern Collection will only be available at Cozystylishchic.com.

I’m excited about the Etsy store because we’ve opened up shipping worldwide and it also allows us to get items to you faster. You no longer have to wait weeks to enjoy our stylish pillows.

Okay, I’ve gone on long enough. Hope you have an amazing week. And thank you for all the love and support…xoxo Typhanie!

P.S. Did you notice the new hair?

The Good, The Bad And The Ugly

The last couple of months have been a roller-coaster. Did I ever mention how much I hate roller coasters?…For the most part I think I’ve been handling everything pretty okay {I use the term “ok” very loosely}. Since I haven’t been posting as much I figured I would share with you all some of the good, the bad and the ugly that has been happening.

WE-flyer-orange

The Good:

Work has been great!! We are getting ready to introduce some wonderful cotton fabrics in our standard colorful designs and some great pillows to go along with them. We are also super excited to be one of the amazing vendors being featured in the West Elm 2nd annual Summer Social!. If you are in or around the LA area please join us on Friday, June 27 at 6:00pm – 8:00pm for a fun and fabulous event. You can RSVP here on the West Elm Santa Monica Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/events/676662585716922/

The Bad:

A couple of weeks ago I started running a 5K again in hopes of building up to running the Half Marathon in Catalina in November. Long story short, in the past two weeks I’ve become allergic to something on my trail that has made my face break out into a rash that itches like hell and burns the eyes when you cry. And I’ve been crying a lot. Drinking green juice every day and taking Benadryl has helped but the minute I run outside the rash comes back. I’m now living on the treadmill and will make an appointment with the dermatologist as soon as this hectic month is over.

 The Ugly:

When you have a rash on your face that burns when you cry it’s best to try not to cry. Apparently the universe had other plans. Last week my hubby and I found a lump on our cat Mr. Bigglesworth. We have taken him to the vet/oncologist and he has been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma which is a very aggressive skin cancer. The position of the cancer makes it pretty much inoperable. We have been told that we only have a couple of months left with him. I have cried so much over the past week and a half. Mr. Bigglesworth has been our love, project manager and cat companion and even though he’s been with us for the past 13 years, I thought we had a lot more time with him.

There you have it. Most of my roller coaster month. Hope you all have been having a blessed and lovely summer so far. I will try my best to post more in the next coming weeks and I really hope to see some of you next week at the West Elm Summer Social…xoxo Typhanie!!!

Freehab Charity Design Project

DSC01959

DSC01959

At the end of last year I had the pleasure of working on another charity design project with Vanessa De Vargas and Vanessa Kogevinas This time I decorated a room for Freehab with my partner in crime Allan Dallatorre. Freehab is headed by actors, Russell Brand and Danny Trejo and Lauri Burns of The Teen Project. Freehab is a rehab center located in Sun Valley. The project will help those who want and need to get back on their feet who are suffering from alcohol and drug addiction problems. Allan and I didn’t have a lot of time or supplies so we worked with what we had. Allan was genius enough to create two faux headboards with just a can of sample paint. A few key thrift store pieces and a reupholstered chair really brought it all together. I hope the residences at Freehad enjoy the space we created and I hope it helps them with their path to recovery. Happy Giving Everyone!..xoxo Typhanie

Donations provided by: Architectual Digest, The Land of Nod, Apt2B, Gotcha Covered, Jen Ramos of Made by Girl, Given Campell Wallpaper, Ferm Living, Vanessa Schreiber.

P.S. I LOVE charity projects and I LOVE giving back. I hate that it has taken me so long to post about this wonderful project but sometimes life just gets in the way. Many of the centers I’ve worked with still need donations. Anything you can provide is a blessing. I’ve included a list of the charities below. Thank You!!

52 Ways to Live a Kick-Ass Life

52ways

52ways

The full title of this awesome book is, 52 Ways to Live a Kick-Ass Life: BS-Free Wisdom to Ignite Your Inner Badass and Live the Life You Deserve by Andrea Owen. Yes, it’s as fabulous as the tile suggest. I came across this book through a blog post from Kate Northurp. I decided to give the e-book a try because well, I wouldn’t mind leading a kick-ass life. I’ve been reading the book for a couple of weeks now and I’m 75% of the way through it. I’ve been trying to read a chapter here and there during my free time but my almost kick-ass life keeps getting in the way. Needless to say every time I pick it up I’m hit with a surge of motivation and the realization that self-knowledge is a bit scary. Andrea is not kidding around! The wisdom is quite BS-Free. With chapters such as loving yourself is the new black, Dump the friends you’ve outgrown and Quit Bitching and Moaning you are sure to have some real honest conversations with yourself about yourself. If you’ve read this book already please share your thoughts. I would love to hear what you think. If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading it yet I suggest you give it a try. You know what Phil Jackson says, “Self-Knowledge is the best Knowledge”. Happy Reading Everyone!…xoxo Typhanie
