Prizer Hoods Debuts Customizable Hoods

With its long standing tradition of providing luxury hoods for the serious home chief, Prizer Hoods has unveiled their new line of customizable hoods. With over 750 colors, 15 custom metals, 10 textures, 42 profiles, and distinctive trim options, Prizer’s new hand crafted hood line has positioned itself as the go to product line for clients looking to create a kitchen that is uniquely theirs.

During the Architectural Digest Home Design Show this past March Prizer Hoods with the assistance of Kim Lewis outlined the 2014 kitchen trends. Many of you may know Kim as the lead designer of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” but as someone who has never watched the show I’ve come to know her as an energetic designer with a great passion for design. Here are a few color trends Kim and the Prizer Hoods team has forecast for Kitchen Design in 2014.

- Neutrals: This year, gray is the superstar of the neutrals family. Lewis calls gray the “softer side of black.” Not to be forgotten, black continues to speak to the high-end homeowner looking for the feel of an industrial-style design.

- Muted Tones: The “soft as a feather” look lends itself to the color used sparingly theme. This pallet includes white on white, tone on tone and light, airy looks.

-Vagabond Style: Rich in color and heritage, this combination is inspired by lands far away and is perfect for the homeowner that appreciates color and the story it evokes. Deep Moroccan jewel tones like spicy hot pinks and rich emerald greens are popular for those who love to accentuate a neutral kitchen with pops of color {you can see the radiant orchid hood to the left in the picture above}.

Lewis also hinted at the return of brass. I’m a big fan of this trend and can’t wait to see its continued development in design. So, what color trend would you like to try in your own design? I’m a traditional girl at heart but I’m really liking the hints of gray from an industrial standpoint….Happy Designing Everyone!

Ruskin Series for Rutt

During BlogTourNYC I got to have a firsthand look at the Ruskin Series for Rutt by designer Scott A. Stultz. The Ruskin series was unveiled at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show and designer Scott Stultz was on hand to give us a very informative talk about the design principles behind the new series. Steeped in tradition the new cabinetry collection has focused not only on the history of design but also on what captures us emotionally. I found the design of the new series to be well thought out with a keen eye towards function and practicality.

One of my favorite pieces is this drawer designed especially to house dinnerware. As most of you know I have dishware addiction that I don’t plan on kicking anytime soon. Stacked as if it were designer steam trunks, the cabinet full of drawers is perfectly made to store any fine {or not so fine} china.

In the booth the collaboration between Miele and Rutt was on full display. The contrast between the brilliant white finish of the Miele Whole Bean Coffee system and the deeper wood tone of the Rutt cabinetry showed how these two company’s products flow flawlessly together. If you would like to see more of the Ruskin Series for Rutt you can view more here or check out the video below…Happy Designing Everyone!

I’m Back {for a bit}

The trip to New York with BlogTourNYC was AMAZING. I have so much to share. From new trends to lessons learned. This journey was packed full of information. Most importantly I feel so blessed to have met everyone in this BlogTour group. Every single person now holds a special place in my heart and I’m so honored to call each one my friend. Because of them this is one adventure I will never forget. Granted I now have a few stories I cannot share {most involving tassels} but I will say that in just one short week I have grown considerable as a person and as a blogger, thanks to them. I can’t wait to tell you all about it but first I have to let you know that the site will be under construction from Saturday March 29th till Tuesday April 1st {no April fool’s joke intended}. We will be up and running again on Wednesday the 2nd.

Once our mini facelift is complete I will be back to let you know why I’m hanging out in this bath tub and why you’ll be craving truffles for the rest of the year.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Happy Decorating Everyone!…xoxo Typhanie

Off We Go

I am headed to New York today to start my BlogTour journey. I’m arriving a few days early so I can spend some time with my good friend Kristen Stewart {not the actress but still as fabulous}. She has loads of stuff planned for us to do so I hope I’m not too sick to enjoy it all. Tuesday is the official start to BlogTour and I can’t wait to share everything Veronkia, her team and the wonderful sponsors have in store for us. You can follow our twitter, Facebook and Instagram to see everything I’m falling in {and out of} love with. I’m really excited about this trip. To tell you the truth I don’t really travel all that much. But for some strange reason I am pretty good at packing. Here are a few basic necessities I need when packing for a trip. First, I have to have luggage that maximizes. Thankfully hubby does travel a lot and a big roomy suitcase can always be found. Second I need a dopp kit to put my face in. This is where I pack my face creams, toothbrush, makeup remover and more. The third thing I need is my makeup travel bag. This is where I keep my pretty face {aka makeup}, jewelry, curling iron and perfumes. I like the ones with the soft materials because they fit better inside my suitcase. Last but not least I have to have a good travel wallet. I love having everything in one place because all my loose cards and tickets just get lost in my handbag full of magazines. TAS is no joke and I don’t have time to rummage through the vortex that is my purse. And there you have it! The few items I need to pack right. So, what are some of the items you need when packing for a trip? Safe Travels Everyone!…xoxo Typhanie

1. Kate Spade Suitcase 2. Hammocks and High Tea Dopp kit 3. Kate Spade Manuela Make-up Bag 4. The World Travel Wallet

BlogTour NYC to AD Home Design Show

I am so honored and excited to be one of the bloggers chosen to participate in BlogTour NYC. Veronika and the Modenus team has done such a great job putting together these blogtours, I was beyond giddy when I got the invite. The New York City Tour will be focused around the AD Home Design Show. The 13th annual Architectural Digest Home Design Show will feature the latest furniture, accessories, lighting, art, kitchen, bath and building products. I’ve always wanted to attend this show especially this year since my  friend Brandon Smith’s magazine theTwentySix is one of the media sponsors. So, from March 18th till the 22nd I shall be in the Big Apple causing a bit of trouble and trying my best to look as fabulous as Carrie from Sex and The City. I promise to take a break from sipping cosmopolitans to fill you in on all the amazingness this trip has to offer…Happy Traveling Everyone!

P.S. If you get a chance please check out all the talented bloggers that will be on the tour. The lineup is quite fabulous! xoxo Typhanie

The Lineup: Alison Habermehl, Jeffrey Design LLC, Deborah Main, Faith Sheridan, Paola Thomas, Marc Abelman, Jill Abelman, Maureen Coates, Marcy Michaud, Vicki Gladle Bolick, Jeanne from Cozy•Stylish•Chic

CES 2014

I’m in Las Vegas for the next couple of days for CES 2014 {consumer electronics show} before heading to Utah for a family shingdig. The show opens tomorrow so hopefully by Wednesday I’ll have tons of new home technology to share you with you. I hear someone will be displaying 101 inch curved TV. I’m not sure why you would want a curved television but I’m going to find out. I’ve been to this show a couple of times and it’s always fun and innovative. The sad part is that on the home front it has been lacking. But I’ve been told that technology for the home is making a big impact on the show this season. Which makes me super excited to see more than just big TV’s and Lutron lighting systems. If you know anyone exhibiting at the show please let me know so I can check out their booth…Happy Developing Everyone! May the tech be with you!!!
