Living Small: Black Kitchen

blackkit

blackkit

Who said you can’t use dark hues in a small space? Not I! Normally I’m not a fan of black kitchens (very Adams family to me) but I just love how designer Lilly Bunn painted the cabinets in this tiny kitchen to bring life and interest to the space. The black and white contrast gives it a tailored, uniform feel instead of cramped hallway vibe. The professional high-end appliances also lend to the polished atmosphere of the space which helps take away from the “just for show” sense that is associated with most small kitchens.

Tips To Take Away:

#1. The color doesn’t matter. It’s how you use it that counts.

#2. Professional appliances are a must

#3. A bit of contrast never hurt nobody

Where to Shop: Treillage

BW4

BWGetting a personal tour of Treillage by co-owner and legendary interior designer Bunny Williams was definitely one of the highlights of BlogTourNYC. Treillage is a garden, interiors and antique store located in New York City. The shop is filled with delightful treasures from all around the world. It was a pleasure to have Bunny personally speak to the group and share some of words of wisdom. After said talk you could see why she and John Rosselli’s well-honed style and aesthetic has led to such a thriving curated store. I’m talking eye candy for days. If you are every in need of prized piece, then Treillage is the store for you…Happy Shopping Everyone!

Living Small: Blanco Culina Mini

441623_CULINA-MINI_SN

441623_CULINA-MINI_SNSince I’m developing a real love for innovative faucets, I thought I would share this beauty from Blanco with you. Perfect for small space dweller the Culina Mini has all the function and performance of the full size Culina faucet. The sleekness of this fixture caught my eye, along with the tangle-free closed coil with magnetic spray holder. Which shows that everyday function was at the forefront during the development. The elegant design of the Culina Mini also makes it picture-perfect for open space floor plans. I’m kind of sad that it’s only avalible in a Polished Chrome or Satin Nickel finish. I would have liked to have seen it in a Polished Brass finish. Especially for an open floor plan concept. Yup, I’m still addicted to that brass. None the less, if you are looking for a professional kitchen faucet that’s just the right size for your small space I suggest checking out the Culina Mini by Blanco…Happy Decorating Small Space Lovers!

DXV by American Standard

DXV2

blogtourtubAs I promised, I’m back to tell you why I was hanging out in this tub. During the BlogTourNYC I had the pleasure of touring the new DXV showroom in New York. DXV is a new luxury bathroom and kitchen brand that showcases the 150 year history of American Standard. The DXV line has over 70 exceptional products designed and influenced by the history of the most significant design movements. The collections have been divided into four general movements which included, Classic {1880-1920}, Golden Era {1920-1950}, Modern {1950-1990} and Contemporary {1990-today}.

DXV1During the tour and presentation I got a close look at all four collections. What really impressed me in each collection was the design of the faucets.

DXV3All were very intricate with a great deal of attention being paid to function. The designs were smooth with a simple rhythm and sexiness about them. Each faucet was luxury at my finger tips. I then imagined having children and seeing their tiny little finger prints all over my beautiful faucet, which made me kind of sad. But then I thought, “Hey, this is one fixture I would actually like cleaning”.

DXV2Now on to my great new love. The Lyndon freestanding tub. The second I saw this beauty I just had to get in. And once I climbed in I let my imagination run away with me. Below is a concept sketch of the bathroom I daydreamed about while pretending I was actually soaking in this prized piece.

dxveditThis tub evokes a rich Zen like quality to anyone who gets in. It was very calming and wrapped around me as if I were receiving a warm reassuring hug. In my mind I could just see this tub taking center stage and I kept thinking brass, waterfalls and flowers. All of which would strip my stress away and carry me off to a dream world. Yup, that’s how I felt in just the minute I was actually in the tub. I can just imagine how it would feel if I truly had a place to put it. If you are looking to create a rich Zen bathroom in your own home, check out my design board below. And if you are looking to renovate a kitchen or bathroom any time soon make sure to check out DXV and American Standard. For all my small space dwellers the Fitzgerald suite is for you. Small in size but big on style…Happy Decorating Everyone.
